#1 International Best Selling Book - Bless The Meds
From Victim to Warrior
Not your typical pain management book; like you, Cristie is a chronic pain warrior and had to learn the hard way how to navigate broken health care systems in order to find ways to manage her pain. She was born with a rare connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, however did not get an actual diagnosis until her mid-30’s. In addition, she lives with a number of autoimmune conditions including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, in which she underwent life-saving ileostomy surgery to remove her entire colon.

Cristie Vito has written a brilliant book that is not just a personal journey but is loaded with carefully researched and chosen definitions of types of chronic pain. Vito writes in such a clear, no-nonsense style that makes her difficult journey even more compelling. As a caregiver to my husband in his final years with a rare disease (that was NOT cancer) I totally understood her frustration with nurse "Stely"! Her definition of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was new to me and very helpful. The opening quotes in every chapter and the key insights at the end of each chapter guide the reader through emotional territory with grace and compassion. This book is a must by if you are a someone in any kind of chronic pain, or a caregiver. I applaud Christie for her honesty, transparency and credibility in putting this valuable guide together.

Not only is this an excellent and helpful book, it was written by someone of exceptional character.
I have read the reviews that have been written about Bless the Meds and I agree that this is an excellent book. So many times, different medical options are available and we do not entirely understand them. It is extremely helpful to have the process explained and to have someone describe their experience. However, the outcome explained is subjective.
I would like to say that I know Cristie, and she is an empathetic person. Cristie's writings demonstrate not only how she navigated the healthcare system and her outcomes, but I feel she also demonstrates that she can consider others and how someone else might interpret the process. This is a book for everyone — by someone who is authentic and genuine. She has been in the trenches of pain, and she genuinely wants to help you through the trenches as well.

In this gentle, informative, and revealing book, Cristie shares both her journey navigating the health care system as a chronic pain patient with a rare genetic disorder, and the tools she has found most useful in not only coping, but also overcoming many limitations. She is a true warrior goddess.
A most helpful guide for anyone looking for tips on the many facets of chronic pain management — both physical and emotional — and insight into communication about chronic pain issues with loved ones.

A raw and empowering guide to chronic pain management.
This book is a deeply personal and practical resource for those navigating the daily struggles of chronic pain. The author brings raw honesty, humor, and compassion to a topic often misunderstood, offering mindfulness techniques, pain management strategies, and real-life insights that go beyond the usual medical advice.
What makes this book stand out is its holistic approach — blending emotional, psychological, and physical aspects of pain while validating the lived experiences of chronic pain warriors. It doesn’t sugarcoat the reality but offers hope, resilience, and practical tools to regain a sense of control.
Some sections dive into complex medical and psychological concepts, which may feel overwhelming for readers new to these topics, but the conversational and relatable tone keeps it engaging. A must-read for anyone battling chronic pain, looking for real support, and wanting to shift from a victim mindset to a warrior mentality.

A very well-written guide to understanding and managing chronic pain using real-life experiences. I would equate the book to having a conversation with a close friend willing to help you along.
Each chapter offers practical information and strategies that individuals can follow to help with their condition. The book is organized to be read from cover to cover; however, returning to certain sections to revisit specific concepts is easy due to the layout of each chapter.
Like any guide, the intention of the book is not that everything is applicable to everyone, but to be able to try and pick what best works for themselves. For this, the book is a thorough overview — and for individuals with chronic conditions, I strongly recommend Bless the Meds to help you through your experiences.

Book Overview
Learning to adapt to life after being diagnosed with chronic pain and illness is extremely difficult. Life as you knew it, along with your hopes and dreams for your life, literally gets turned upside down in an instant. This comes with a lot of deep complicated emotions from grief, sadness, anger, frustration to living in a constant state of uncertainty and stress. Most people assume that if you get sick, a medical professional like Dr. House will work endlessly until they have answers and a cure so you can go back to living the life you used to know. Unfortunately, most people living with chronic pain don’t get answers to what the root of the problem is, let alone get a clear line of treatment. And getting a cure is as likely as winning the lottery!
This book might be right for you if you live in chronic pain and have been told any of the following:
To just drink more water, try yoga or suggest losing some weight
Have been told by doctors and medical professionals that your pain is psychosomatic and that you should see a psychologist (because its easier to blame anxiety than admit they have no idea)
A well-meaning friend who says “as least you don’t have cancer”; thinking that is somehow a comfort to living in constant 24/7 pain
This is not your typical pain management book; like you, Cristie is a chronic pain warrior and had to learn the hard way how to navigate broken health care systems in order to find ways to manage her pain. She was born with a rare genetic connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, however did not get an actual diagnosis until her mid-30’s. In addition, she lives with a number of autoimmune conditions including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, in which she underwent life-saving ileostomy surgery to remove her entire colon.
Book takeaways:
Expand our understanding and definition of what medicine means
Advice from someone with lived experiences rather than a doctor that doesn’t actually understand what it is like to live in chronic pain
Move beyond the generic pain scale: understanding of how pain functions within the human body, basic anatomy as well as the different types of pain and how to describe them to health care professionals
Understanding emotional thresholds and how emotions impact your physical body and why learning to increase your emotional intelligence is vital to your overall happiness and ability to cope with challenges
And so much more!!
